Challenge

A route plan has to work for five days without signal, and has to say plainly when the safe choice is to turn back.

Approach

The prototype ran offline from the first week. I walked a day of the route with a guide and cut every screen he did not open.

Outcome

Guides plan in the app instead of on paper. The turn-back warning was shown 31 times in its first season and ignored twice.
